Symptoms of oral warts are usually found in the vicinity of the mouth, lips and the surrounding areas. The oral warts can appear in various forms small and flat lumps, thread-like in shape or just lumpish growths. They are seriously contagious, and easily transmitted through kissing or oral-genital contact. They can also spread to other parts of the body. Poor hygiene as well as low immunity systems can increase the risk of infection. As oral warts can cost pain and discomfort, it is best to seek treatment for oral warts soonest possible.

There are various methods to treat oral warts; the doctor will decide on the most suitable oral warts treatment, depending on the location and seriousness of the warts. Oral wart removal is usually by surgical means or freezing them with liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy). Another form of oral warts treatment is by using cantharidin, which causes the wart to dry up and result in a blister, which can be removed. One of the most effective methods is using carbon dioxide lasers, which can be rather expensive.

Some doctors may prescribe the use of topical creams or oral medication for warts. These topical creams for warts contain retinoids, which can interrupt the growth of the warts. However, there is no guarantee that the warts will not recur after removal or treatment. Rinsing with mouthwash, which kills the virus may help in lowering the risk of recurrence or infection.
